ROBOSTANGS AT THE "GIRLS IN STEM WORKSHOP"

HOSTED BY GOOGLE COMMUNITY LEADERS PROGRAM

The Robostangs were honored to be invited to and participate in the Google Community Leaders Program to help promote STEM and engineering to local Girl Scout troops. Located at the Google Offices in Ann Arbor, the Robostangs got to share their experiences as FIRST FRC members and provide information on the different programs FIRST offers.

Furthermore, the Robostangs explained their journey throughout the season and how they organize and run their team efficiently. To give the girls hands-on experience, each one of them got an opportunity to drive our off-season robot, Swerve. The girls had a great time not only learning about what the Robostangs do, but also seeing a robot and understanding all of the steps that go into making the final product.

Paige Tar, a former girl scout and current Robostang said, “This event gives these girls the opportunity to immerse themselves in STEM in a world that may otherwise deny them that opportunity through gender stereotypes. Girl Scouts are the girls that want to reach out and expand their world view and so this event is amazing for them in that it expands their horizons even further.”

The Robostangs encouraged the girls to pursue STEM and engineering programs and helped them envision their futures with STEM.
