first lego league jr.
FLL Jr. is a FIRST program that inspires and teaches children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade about an important real world issue using STEM principles. This pipeline program allows the Robostangs to teach younger Northville students about FIRST fundamentals such as engineering, critical thinking, and innovation.
first lego league
FIRST Lego League challenges 4th to 8th graders to design, build, and program a robot using LEGO MINDSTORM to solve an issue. Kids must research a real-world problem (food safety, recycling, energy, etc.) and using a healthy mixture of STEM and imagination, teams must devise a solution. Kids learn critical thinking, team-building, STEM, and presentation skills by presenting their creative solutions to judges. FLL emphasizes not only STEM application, but also core values built around discovery, teamwork, Gracious Professionalism® and Coopertition®.
FIRST TECHNICAL CHALLENGE
FIRST Tech Challenge challenges 7th to 12th graders to design, build, program and operate robots in a head-to-head, alliance-based competition. Students spend the seasons developing STEM skills and practicing principles of engineering, under the guidance of Robostang mentors and students. Each year, FTC students impress and realize hard work, innovation, and shared ideas. FTC acts as a beacon for future engineers, turning participants into gratified and motivated students.
FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION
Combining the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. We call FIRST Robotics Competition the ultimate Sport for the Mind. FIRST Robotics enables students, at all levels, to explore their love for Robotics and be connected to a base of others who share this passion. It serves as a foundation from which students can broaden their knowledge of STEM-related subjects while focusing on the importance of the core values of teamwork, communication, and leadership.
