It’s never too early to discover STEM
FLL Jr. is a FIRST program that inspires and teaches children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade about an important real world issue using STEM principles. This pipeline program allows the Robostangs to teach younger Northville students about FIRST fundamentals such as engineering, critical thinking, and innovation.
This year’s Aqua Adventure challenge encouraged students to think outside of the box to solve the current issue of water shortages. The Robostangs mentored and provided WeDo 2.0 kits to create Lego models illustrating their ideas. At the end, the elementary school problem solvers were invited to display their work and explain their ideas at the Robostangs’ annual FLL Jr. Expo.
We were privileged enough to work with six teams: The Aqua Mechanics, the Deep Sea Awesome Explorers, the Scorpions, the Shark Warriors and the Sharks. Weekly sessions were held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning September from 6:00 – 7:30 PM through December at Hillside Middle School.
